TREK WITH CAMELS IN  DUNES AND OASIS OF DRAA




This camel trek of 5 to 6 hours of walking a day, in the Draa Valley presents no particular difficulty. A good physical shape, an ability to adapt to the conditions of simple comfort and a simple but varied food, the desire to integrate into a group and live happily in a total isolation: these are the aptitudes necessary for the success of your trip.

INDICATIVE ITINERARY



DAY 01: arrival in Ouarzazate or Marrakech. Airport reception

 

DAY 02: departure by car, minibus or taxi, to join Agdez, sinuous vein which shelters a multitudes of majestic Ksars until the imposing palm grove of Zagora. Then continue to Beni Ali where you will find the camel team. Bivouac. (Marrakech-Beni Ali: 384 km, paved road Ouarzazate-Beni Ali: 108 km paved road)

 

DAY 03: start of the Beni Ali- Foum Takkat – Bouaguane hike (5h walk). At the slow pace of the dromedaries, you follow the left bank of the Wadi Draa, punctuated by a string of small villages in ocher earth and traditional architecture well preserved. You will arrive at the end of the day in Bouaguane where you will set up your bivouac near a seguia surrounded by tamarisks.

 

DAY 04: Bouaguane – Nesrat – El Bleida (6 hours walk). Your camel ride will take you through Iguenouane, Beni Semgane, Ait Zermou, Zaouiet Sidi el Djedid, Oulad Amar with their squares of green produce vegetables. You will also cross the green oasis of Nesrat, in incessant struggle against the invading sand. Bivouac to El Bleida.

 

DAY 05: El Bleida – Ksar el Kebir – Zaouiet Sidi Saleh (5 hours walk). As the progression continues, the oasis villages keep all their authenticity, thanks to the simplicity of their homes still believing to live under the protection of the famous marabout “Sidi Saleh”. you will plant your bivouac near these gardens worked by the men, women and children of this Zaouia.

 

DAY 06: Zaouiet Sidi Saleh – Tidri (5 hours walk). Always through changing landscapes, your caravan will advance gradually to the dunes of Tidri, which will offer you the hospitality of their sand for your evening bivouac.

 

DAY 07: Tidri – Oulad Driss (5 hours walk). to complete your journey, you will head to Ksar Oulad Driss, a veritable miracle of greenery and freshness in this arid environment. Here, the foreigner is always very well received and will benefit from all

happiness of this oasis, if he himself appreciates local traditions and behave as a host respectful of customs. Last dinner and overnight in bivouac or in a gite with your camel drivers.

 

DAY 08: Oulad Driss – Zagora – Ouarzazate or Marrakech (depending on flights). Oulad Driss – Ouarzazate: 258 km (paved road). Oulad Driss – Marrakech: 462 km (paved road). Early morning departure, by car, mini-bus or taxi back to Ouarzazate or Marrakech. Lunch spades on the way. Splendid view on the Atlas. Free time and dinner in Ouarzazate or Marrakech, at your expense. Night at the hotel + breakfast (room for 2 to 3 people) at our expense.

 

DAY 09: Departure from Ouarzazate or Marrakech, depending on the departure time, free time at the hotel or in town. Two hours before take off from your plane, transfer to the airport. Assistance with boarding formalities.
