5-Day Moroccan Atlas to Sahara Adventure

Your adventure begins with a transfer from Marrakech to Imlil, the gateway to the Atlas Mountains. The trek to Tinghrine will take you through the scenic village of Tamatert. After enjoying lunch with panoramic views at the pass of Tizi n’Tamatert, you’ll continue on to Tinghrine, where you will spend the night, soaking in the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Setting out from Tinghrine, today’s journey winds through the valley, passing the picturesque villages of Ikkiss and the mountain pass of Tizi n’Aguersioual. Enjoy a refreshing lunch in Matate before continuing over the Tizi n’Oudite pass towards Ait Aissa. Here, nestled within the stunning mountain landscape, you will spend another serene night.

Depart from Ait Aissa and traverse the landscape to Tizi Oussem via the breathtaking Tizi Mzik pass. Your trek circles back to Imlil, where you’ll conclude your walking journey. Spend the night in a local guesthouse, reflecting on the incredible experiences and landscapes you’ve encountered thus far.

Leaving the mountains behind, travel towards the celebrated Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its iconic earthen buildings and as a backdrop to numerous films. After soaking in the history and panoramic views, journey through the Valley of the Roses to Dades Gorges. Here, a traditional Moroccan dinner and the comfort of a hotel await you.

The final day of your adventure begins with a visit to the majestic Todra Gorge before venturing deep into the Sahara to Merzouga. Embark on a camel trek to the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in Morocco, to witness a breathtaking sunset. Spend the evening enjoying a Berber meal and sleeping under the stars at a desert camp. Awaken early to catch the sunrise before riding camels back to meet your driver, who will escort you back to Marrakech, arriving around 17:00.
