DAY 1 :MARRAKESH-AIT YOUL

transfer from Marrakesh to Ait youl passing by Tizi n’Tichka Ouarzazate

DAY 2  AIT YOUL 1367 M—TIKDIT 1600 M

starting our trek from  Ait Youl, outside of the Valley of the Roses, to make first contact with the mule team and guides. We first depart the Dades Valley and venture into the heart of Jebel Sarho. In the small village of Tikdit we make camp for the night. 4 hours walking

DAY 3 TIKDIT—COL DU TAGOURT 1913 M—GORGES ASSAKA

Today we cross the Tizi n Agourt with the snow-capped Atlas and Dades Valley as our backdrop. From here we descend into the Ridge of Tagourt and the Assaka Gorge where we make camp near the lovely village of Assaka.  5 hours walking

DAY 4  ASSAKA—TIFDASSIN 1300 M

Continuing along Assif Assaka N’Ait Ouzzine, the only active oued of the region.  Periodically, green islands and some houses appear in the middle of nowhere. The landscape is an impressive one of gorges and cliffs. We make camp at Tifdassine. 5 hours walking

DAY 5  TIFDASSINE—BAB N’ALI—PITONS OF TAGHOURTE

Here we find ourselves in the most mineral-rich place of the pre-Saharan massif.  We make camp in the village of Igli. 5 hours walking

DAY 6  IGLI—KOUACH PASS 2500 M—ALMOU N’OUARG 2200 M

In a more mountainous atmosphere we climb the Kouach Pass, passing by the famous quartz geode known as the Camel’s Head.  This is the highest point on our journey and offers the trekker an remarkable view of the south slope of the Atlas. We make camp in Almou N’Ouarg 6 hours walkin g

DAY 7   ALMOU N’OUARG—IFERD PASS 2300 M—TAGDILT 1600 M—OUARZAZATE

We make our way via a mule trail that passes through a forest of giant thuyas…and arrive at Tizi n’Iferd, offering more breathtaking views of the Dades Plains and the High Atlas. We descend to the village of Tagdilt and transfer via minibus back to Ouarzazate where we spend the night at a hotel.  5 hours walking

 DAY 8  FLIGHT RETURN FROM OUARZAZATE

Transfer back to Marrakesh
